Scope: This progressive design build project included design & construction for new 25,800 square foot Recreation and Aquatic Center set in an existing 6.25-acre City Park. The project replaced an existing facility that served the community for 50 years but was outdated and in need of serious repairs. The original project was awarded just to replace the existing recreation center portion of the old facility. During design, ECC team collaborated with City to develop a full master plan and design for complete replacement of the entire facility. The design & construction were done in two phases. The Recreation Center and portion of Aquatics Facility was designed, permitted, and constructed while the new pools and support facilities design were being completed and permitted. The recreation center portion of the project included main lobby with reception area, game room, fitness room, dance room, arts classes, community room, and gymnasium the size of a high school gym. Aquatics facilities included staff offices, lifeguards break & dressing room, public changing rooms & showers, restrooms, classroom, wet & dry storage areas, and pool equipment room to support a 50-meter competition pool, five lane therapy pool, and splashpad play area.
